I tried to surf to larryniven.org one day, and it was gone!
It turned out that the current owner of the domain had to let it expire, because he could not maintain it for personal reasons. Right after I managed to gain ownership of the domain, the web hosting company bill came due, but then site disappeared.Fortunately, Ted had a backup of the source to the site, and I began converting it to a a more modern design. I guess how this is how I came to be here as webmaster of the site. I was determined to bring it back up.
Now for the third person stuff. Mark is a typical computer and science fiction geek, and a long time Larry Niven fan and member of the larryniven-l mailing list. His wife is continually frustrated by this, and is always insisting that he "does something productive", or more recently "get a job". He has recently gained employement as a "Infrastructure Specialist", whatever that means. (It's geeky computer stuff, so don't worry about it). He maintains an archive of Arizona BBS related things retrobbs.cortex-media.com, and wants to launch unmanned arial balloons but doesn't have the time right now because he someone ended up maintaining this site.
